Pick one thing from this energy audit; take one small action that supports improvement

Humans are creatures of habit. But that doesn't mean we autmatically keep all the habits that are the best for us...

Many give up on their healthy habits not because they’re lazy, but because they’re simply exhausted.

But when that exhaustion sets in, it can certainly feel like laziness. Which can lead to one of the most common (and damaging) assumptions:

“I guess I just don't have enough discipline.”

So you double down on the discipline factor, and try to get yourself “back on track.” You push even harder, until… you guessed it... that pesky burnout hits you once again.

Does that sound like a familiar pattern in your life? Yes? Then let's do an exercise together that can help.

Before you start feeling guilty or get mad at yourself AGAIN for “never following through,” we're going to do a quick check on your energy levels.

Here’s a quick 5-Minute Energy Audit to try:

Mental Check: Am I feeling overwhelmed, overstimulated, or distracted right now?

Focus: Do I have too much screen time, no actual breaks, and long periods of multitasking?

Physical Scan: Am I really tired? Am I dehydrated? Am I skipping movement too often?

Focus: How many times did you wake up in the middle of the night? have I skimped out on movement so far today? Am I fueing everything with caffeine? Am I eating mostly carbs?

Emotional Rundown: Am I feeling particularly emotionally drained right now? Am I holding stress anywhere in my body? Did I let the people-pleaser in me take over?

Focus: Why can't I stop thinking about that convo yesterday? Have I been saying yes too much lately? Am I letting myself off the hook for recent mistakes?

These kinds of things matter more than you think. So before you start feeling defeated or thinking you need to rework your entire plan, pick one thing from this energy audit above, and take just one small action that supports its improvement!

Mentally off your game? Set a 20-minute phone-free window tonight. Go for a walk, sit outside, or just do nothing ...but it has to be without a screen.

Physically off track? Eat something with 25+ g of protein before 10 am tomorrow. Get outside for 10 minutes of sunshine and fresh air, not even necessarily a “workout.” Just MOVE.

Emotionally derailed? Spend time with a friend, preferably in person, but video chat or phone call can work in a pinch. Say no or reschedule something you’re really not looking forward to. Pet an animal (sounds funny, but very helpful! Don't have a pet? Maybe that friend of yours does, and shelters are always looking for volunteers!

Seriously, just pick one thing from this energy audit; take one small action that supports improvement. Actually follow through. You can think about another action after you complete the first one-just get that momemntum moving.
