When was the last time you just stopped and felt 'present?'
Not listening to a podcast or audiobook; no music playing- not even in the background; no scrolling social media, no TV show playing that you were only paying half attention to anyway.
Just taking in the scenery around you? Noticing the way the light hits the ground? Smelling the roses, so to speak...
Unplugging from all external input, even for a little while, is great for your health. But very few of us make time for it.
The fact is, taking in some silence can:
● Lower blood pressure
● Reduce the level of stress hormones in your system
● Stimulate brain growth
● Calm a racing mind
● Increase focus & concentration
● Spark creativity
● Improve sleep
Plus, a little silence provides your brain much needed quiet time to problem solve and mull over decisions but also some time to just relax.
Whether you start by taking your earbuds out of your ears while you’re on your walk for a few minutes at first or by waking up a little earlier to get quiet time with your coffee before the family wakes up, or going to bed a little earlier to do some reflection before you sleep...it can all make a difference.
Small changes can have a cascading effect on the rest of your life.
When outside input is paused, you can tune into your inner voice and internal compass to improve decision making processes, gain clarity on your goals, and reconnect with your "why" for your priorities.
P.S. If you're a parent (or grandparent/caregivers) with kids at home, and could a little help tuning in and gaining clarity on your goals and how to get there, The 'Blueprint 4 Flourishing Families" course/coaching program wait list is now open!
Together, we can:
● Establish simple and attainable habits during the coaching period that can benefit your family now AND in the future
● Add to your toolkit of healthy choices that you can pull from again and again
● Set your family up for success so you’re not tempted to backslide into habits that no longer benefit any of you
