Did you know that one of the BEST things you can do for your brain is simply connecting with other people? Here are a couple studies to support this theory:
One was published in the American Journal of Public Health and it found that older adults who had active social lives saw a 70% lower rate of cognitive decline.
Another study from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health found that adults with strong social circles had better mental health and a longer life expectancy.
So what does that mean for you?
Engaging in meaningful conversation, having shared experiences with others, and having a sense of belonging in a group (or few) can improve your mood, reduce stress, and even increase/improve your brain function.

Here are some fun and easy ways to get more social interaction:
● Reach out to at least one friend at least once a week: Even if you’re busy. Even if you have to squeeze it in. Make a coffee date or jump on a phone call to catch up and stay connected.
● Join a club or group: Find a local hobby group or an online community that shares your interests. There are several apps or Facebook groups that can help you find your people.
● Volunteer: "Giving back" is a great way to meet people and create natural connections from shared interests. Plus, it's a great way to boost your confidence and recognize gratitude.
● Be present: Connection is the point. When you're with other people, be truly engaged. Put away devices and really focus on the conversation.
The bottom line is, taking care of your brain doesn’t have to be complicated or feel clinical...
Sometimes, it’s as simple as making time for the people who matter in your life!
