Could you swap your afternoon coffee for 10 minutes of exercise?
Science says YES!
A study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that as little as 10 minutes of moderate exercise can promote better attention, memory, and learning capacity…
Which means if you can move your body for just 10 minutes, you might not need that afternoon coffee after all!
It doesn’t have to be strenuous exercise, either…

It could be as easy as:
✔️Inverted Yoga Poses. A quick forward bend, downward dog, or even laying down with your legs up on the wall can increase blood flow to your brain, which can boost mental clarity and brain function!
✔️Hand Grip Exercises. Use a hand gripper, stress ball, tennis ball, or even a rolled-up piece of thicker fabric and squeeze. It may sound counterintuitive, but this sends oxygen to your brain and can trigger "brain-derived neurotrophic factor" (BDNF), which is a protein that helps your brain cells grow and stay healthy!
✔️Nasal Breathing. If you really can’t get up and move, this is a great substitute. Breathe through your nose ... it increases oxygen uptake and improves circulation to the brain, leading to better cognitive performance.
Will these get you massive results in your big goal categories?
Probably not…
But they’re great to have in your toolkit on days when you need some extra energy and focus.
If you are a parent (or even a teacher or other caregiver of kids), imagine how these tools could help your little ones with their focus and learning into the afternoon when they, too, might feel a slump!
